Colleen Loemker grew up in the St. Louis area. She began studying violin at the age of four in the Suzuki Program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. At age eight, she added piano and flute instruction with a local private teacher. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Music from Illinois State University in May 2024, where she studied violin privately with Sarah Gentry, Aaron Jacobs, and Igor Kalnin. Throughout her time in the Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra, she held both the title of assistant concertmaster and concertmaster. While at Illinois State University, Colleen was the recipient of two merit-based departmental scholarships through the School of Music: the Bernard Eichen Scholarship and the Helen Merris Scholarship. Colleen has performed with orchestras such as Millikin-Decatur Symphony, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, and has also performed with chamber ensembles and pit orchestras. She has taught students of all ages and skill levels throughout her eight years of having a private studio. She is passionate about helping students grow as musicians and individuals through meaningful and engaging music education.
