When Calista was just 4 years old, she was watching a VHS tape and someone on the video had started to play the violin. She told her mom, "I want to do that!" The next year, she began playing violin through her school's Suzuki program. She has stuck with violin throughout the years and has played a wide variety of music from classical to fiddle. She loves the emotion that comes through in a violin's sound. Calista is also a Minneapolis-based theatre and music teaching artist and actress. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO for Musical Theatre Performance where she was also a part of a women's vocal jazz ensemble. Post college, she began pursuing her three biggest passions, music, theatre and education. Her favorite thing about teaching is sharing her passion with students and seeing them gain a passion for music as well. A fun-fact about Calista is that her violin teacher was actually the person who told her she should audition for her first musical when she was 6!
